ATTENDANCE POLICY
It is my responsibility to prepare you for college and the rigor expected at the collegiate level. Because of this, I have a very strict late work policy.
Please make every effort to use the restroom or go to your locker before class begins. In the event of an emergency, you will be allowed to use the restroom or go to your locker two times per quarter. Please do not abuse this policy.
- It is YOUR responsibility to get all makeup work. As Honors students, I would expect you to exhaust all your resources to obtain your missing work: call a friend, text a friend, message a friend, email me. Please note that excessive absences will have a negative impact on your grade.
- Known absence (doctor's appointment, field trip, etc.) - Please see me BEFORE you are absent to obtain the work you will miss. This is the courteous and responsible thing to do.
- Unknown, excused absence (illness, death in the family, etc.) - Please see me as soon as you return to school. It is highly recommended that you email me (if possible) if you will be absent for an extended period of time.
- Unexcused absence - I leave this to my own discretion. School policy dictates that a student receive a zero for an unexcused absence.
- You have as many days as you are absent to make up all of your work.
- If a test or quiz is given during your absence, you must make an appointment to come in either before school or after school to take the test or quiz. You may not use class time to do this. You have two days from when you return to make up a quiz and five days from when you return to make up a test. After this time period expires, you will receive a zero on the test or quiz.
It is my responsibility to prepare you for college and the rigor expected at the collegiate level. Because of this, I have a very strict late work policy.
- If you are absent the day something is due, it is expected that you will turn this work in THE DAY YOU RETURN TO SCHOOL.
- I will accept all other work one day late for 50% credit. After this one day grace period, the assignment will be entered as a zero. Late assignments must be turned in at the beginning of class (meaning, before the bell rings) to receive any credit.
- All major writing projects are due on the assigned day. Each day it is turned in late, 10% will be deducted from the final grade.
